True Crime Garage - Joey LaBute

A young, attractive, professional, gay man disappears after a night out at a local gay bar with friends and family. Three weeks later his body is found in a nearby river. At autopsy the cause of death is ruled undetermined but it is concluded that he was most likely dead before being placed in the water. What happened to Joey LaBute?

What is incredible and fascinating about this story, and the now numerous others for inebriated, white males in their 20s, is the social environment. In every case, there are just so many people around. It is incredible that a killer, THE killer, or the killerS do not slip up just once and expose themselves. With cameras around, no less.

I personally believe that in this instance Joey was a victim of foul play. However, and I can't stress this enough, there really is no evidence for the so-called "Smiley Face Killers" being a reality. In all of the alleged 70+ cases, only about 2-3 show signs of homicide. The rest are accidental drownings with some suicides.
