Apate, is the Greek goddess or daimona (female spirit) of deceit and fraud. In Rome she was referred to as Fraus.

Appearance: A snake with a woman's face and the sting of a scorpion.

Lore: In Greece, Apate/Fraus was one of the inflictions of mankind that were imprisoned in a box and given to Pandora for safekeeping. Pandora opened the box, allowing the daimons to flee and to plague mankind ever since. Apate, like most of the daimons that plague mankind, is the child of Nyx, the goddess of night.

Powers: Apate/Fraus travels the world spreading deceit, lies and fraud where she goes. She is capable of inflicting much harm and of even controlling people.

Defense Against Fraus/Apate: Unknown.  Living an honest life may help diminish her influence over someone.
