Happy Walpurgisnacht!

Tonight is Walpurgisnacht, a time when witches and creatures of the night get to celebrate before the coming Summer.

Wishing All My Fellow Creatures Of The Night A Wonderfully Wicked Walpurgisnacht!

Van Meter Visitor

The Van Meter Visitor is an alleged flying, bat-like monster that plagued Van Meter, Iowa, for approximately one week starting on the night of September 29, 1903.

Appearance: A large, foul-smelling, bat-like humanoid with a horn on it's head that emitted a bright light. For an image of the Van Meter Visitor, click HERE.

Lore: According to legend, one Fall night in 1903 the creature arose from an abandoned mine shaft and began terrorizing the town of Van Meter, Iowa, for several nights. People reported seeing a large being with bat wings flying incredibly fast and leaving behind a wake of foul-smelling air. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the sightings was that the monster had a brilliant light that shown from a single horn on it's head. After being spotted several times and even having plaster casts made of the alleged beast, a local party of citizens was formed to try to deal with the matter in any way they could. The posse was able to drive back the creature, only to discover that the monster was seemingly sheltering an offspring. The monster and it's offspring then disappeared down a mine shaft and was never seen again.

Powers: Flight and the ability to emit light from a horn on the head of the creature.

Defense Against The Van Meter Visitor: The Van Meter Visitor is of little to no threat of harm. No attacks were reported. The monster may or may not have been sighted since 1903.

Lawndale Thunderbird

The Lawndale Thunderbird was a large, bird-like monster that allegedly attacked a 10 year-old boy in Lawndale, IL, on July 25, 1977.

Appearance:  A 4 ft long bird, body-wise, with dark plumage and a white ring around it's neck. The wings were described as being at least 4 ft in length each. It's neck was described as being 1 ft in length and it was reported as having a 6 in, hooked beak.

Lore: At approximately 8:10 pm on July 25, 1977,  10 year-old Marlon Lowe was playing outdoors when two very large, dark birds began to fly over his head. One of the birds swooped down and began attacking the poor boy. Marlon began screaming for help and attempted to run inside. His screams alerted his mother, Ruth Lowe. When Ruth Lowe went to see why Marlon was screaming her eyes where met with horror. A giant bird swooped down and grabbed her son, who weighed 56 lbs, and drug him approximately 35 ft away. A second large bird was flying very close by as well. Ruth immediately ran to her son and grabbed him and frantically began swinging and hitting at the birds in order to shoo them away. Eventually she succeeded and both birds flew off in the distance. The family decided to call the police. The police investigated but found no trace of the birds. The story then leaked to the media and the Lowe family became a laughing stock of the community. For some reason people disbelieved the family and thought it was a hoax. Unfortunately, Marlon Lowe was bullied and was even beaten up by kids at school. Despite all this the family still stuck by their initial story and has never changed their story in all the subsequent years.

Powers: Strength and flight.

Defense Against The Lawndale Thunderbird: There have been other reports of large birds attack children weighing circa 50 lbs or so. So it appears as if this is a genuine, if not infrequent, threat. The birds can be scared away with adults using force.

Big Bird

Big Bird is the name given to a number of reported sightings of a gigantic, bird-like monster in the area of southern New Mexico and southern Texas.

Appearance: Many witnesses claim the creature looked like a gigantic condor-like bird, being 5-7ft high, having up to a 20ft wingspan, with black or dark feathers and a bald head. Other witnesses reported a creature closer resembling a Pterosaur, an extinct flying reptile, a bat-like creature or even a flying humanoid.

Lore: Sightings of Big Bird began in January, 1976. The first witnesses were three children in Harlingen, TX, who witnessed the monster in a ditch on January 1. This sighting was followed by the sighting of officer Arturo Padilla who saw the creature in his patrol car headlights on January 7, in San Benito, TX. Officer Homer Galvin also witnessed the creature but it was too far away for him to give specific details other than the creature looked like a giant, dark bird. On the same day in Brownsville, TX, a man named Alverico Guajardo claimed to have seen a gigantic, bat-like creature. On January 14, a man named Amando Grimaldo, a Raymondville resident, claimed he was attacked by the monster. Grimaldo had the bloody, torn shirt to prove it. In fact, he was discovered by his neighbors, who found him huddling and shaking in fear in his yard. Grimaldo claimed that a furry, bat-like monster had attacked him. On February 24, three teachers reported a sighting of what they believed was a Pteranodon, a large form of Peterosaur. Sightings of Big Bird lasted for a couple of months and then tapered off and died. Every now and then a new witness comes forward claiming to have seen Big Bird. One of the latest sightings happened to Frank Ramirez in 1998 with other additional sightings reported in 2007.

Powers: Strength and flight.

Defense Against  Big Bird: Unknown. However, there is only one known instance of Big Bird attacking a person.

Big Bird As Misidentified Bird - The most common explanation for the rash of Big Bird sightings in 1976 was that people were misidentifying non-local birds. However, some witnesses insist that what they saw was not natural.

Phonoi were the Greek gods or daimons (spirits) of murder.

Appearance: Unknown, though it's possible that they were pictured as winged men bearing weapons.

Lore: The Phonoi were the sons of Eris, the goddess of strife. They were generally viewed as being plural in number. However, in some circumstances they were condensed into one being referred to as Phonos (murder).

Powers: The Phonoi are responsible for inspiring people to murder and kill people.

Defense Against Phonoi: Unknown.

Limos was the Greek goddess or daimones (spirit) of hunger, starvation and famine. The Romans called her Fames.

Appearance: An emaciated, starving woman with hollow, sunken eyes, parched lips and skin looking like parchment covering bones.

Lore: Limos and Demeter, the goddess of agriculture, are not allowed to meet or be together in the same location, per the decree of the Fates, the goddesses of fate and destiny. This said, Demeter calls upon Limos when she is in need of her service, mostly to punish mortals with famine. She once punished a king by using Limos to inflict him with such severe hunger that he eventually began to eat himself. She is believed to make her home in the far desolate north or at the entrance of the underworld.

Powers: Limos spreads starvation and famine with her breath.

Defense Against Limos: Unknown, though today many charities are dedicated to combat hunger. Please consider donating to these causes.

The Algea

The Algea were the Greek goddesses or daimones (spirits) of pain and suffering. Sometimes the Algea were presented in the singular as Algos, the god or spirit of pain.

Appearance: Unknown, though it's possible they appeared as winged, weeping women.

Lore: The Algea were either the daughters of Eris, the goddess of strife, or of Aether & Gaia (upper heaven and earth). The Algea are responsible for every single form of pain and suffering experienced by humanity, everything from paper cuts, headaches and toothaches to the pains of child birth and terminal illness. The Algea are also responsible for emotional and psychological pain.

Powers: The Algea inflict pain and suffering upon humanity.

Defense Against Algea: The Algea can not be totally eradicated though many magical charms were invented to repel them. Modern medicine has also limited the pain and suffering of humans to a certain degree.

Alastor was the Greek god or daimon (spirit) of blood feuds. His name means "avenging." Alastor was also used as a title for any avenging spirit. There may have also existed a belief in multiple Alastors.

Appearance: Unknown but possibly a winged man brandishing weapons of torture and punishment, such as torches, whips and scourges

Lore: Alastor is the cause of all long-term fighting and rivalry between families. To be more specific, Alastor is charged with inspiring people to seek revenge against a person's entire family for a misdeed or wrong. He is a close companion of the Furies. Alastor will go to great lengths to avenge wrongs. In Euripides' Elektra, the character of Orestes ponders a message given by an oracle of Apollo in which he is advised to kill his mother. Orestes thinks that Alastor may have hijacked Apollo's oracle. Perhaps Alastor's most famous inspired blood feud would be between the Hatfields and the McCoys.

Powers: Alastor has the power to inspire people to seek violent revenge against the family members of a person who severely wronged them.

Defense Against Alastor  - Unknown. Alastor, like his close companions, The Furies, will stop at nothing until they have achieved their goal of punishing humanity.

Tonight Is The First Of Four Blood Moons!

Tonight is the first of a tetrad or four blood moons that will take place over the next two years. In all cases it will be a total eclipse of the moon, when the moon passes through the shadow of the earth. The moon will appear rust or dark red colored, hence the term "blood moon." It's not technically a blood moon. The blood moon is actually the full moon in October, or the next full moon after the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon on the Saturday closest to the Autumn Equinox.

You may have heard some rumors about this tetrad of lunar eclipses signalling an apocalypse or earth-shattering changes. This belief arose because each of the blood moons will occur on Jewish holidays. In the middle will be a solar eclipse. So we have the moon turning to blood and the sun turning black, all which serve to make certain people think the end of the world is nigh. Personally, I don't think we have anything to worry about, mainly because these people point to certain bible verses and claim they mean something different from what they actually read. I believe their interpretations are wrong.

If you have never seen a lunar eclipse they are weird looking. The last one I saw was around 2009 and the moon was really high in the sky and was a dark red color. Kind of spooky. It was especially spooky because everything gets darker. All total eclipses occur during a full moon. So nights with a full moon tend to be brighter than other nights. So you can see with your own eyes the night growing darker. Again, it's spooky.

As far as magic goes, the full moon is the strongest time for most spells. Add the lunar eclipse to the mix and it makes tonight an ideal time for enemy work. It will also be the prime time or curses and black magic. The total eclipse will last for one hour so anyone wanting to take advantage of this time should have plenty of time to do so. Look to the side of the moon as well and you will probably see an orange "star." That's the planet Mars.

The lunar eclipse will begin circa 12:53 CST but won't reach totality until 2 am CST, which should last over an hour.

Since it's also the full moon, witches will be at their most powerful, werewolves will roam the woods and all manner of beasties will be active.

Achlys is the primordial goddess of death and darkness, more specifically the approaching darkness that a person experiences just prior to dying. She is also responsible for the clouding over of a corpse's eyes. She is considered to also be the personification of misery and sadness.

Appearance: A disgusting hag, covered in dirt, having a starving and decaying, emaciated body with swollen knees, long fingernails, cheeks oozing blood and a nose that constantly runs. Achlys is said to be eternally crying.

Lore: Achlys is said to have been the first created being. This is at odds with the traditional Greek belief that Nyx (night) was the first being. It could be that Achlys is an archaic form of Nyx. However, some suggest tat Achlys is a daughter of Nyx, which would further confuse matters. An image of Achlys appeared on Heracles' (Hercules') shield.

Power: Achlys brings the darkness of death upon the eyes of the dying and clouds the eyes of the corpse.

Defense Against Achlys: None

Appearance: A large woman with disheveled clothing. In art she was pictured as holding various board games. For an image of Socordia, click HERE.

Lore: Socordia is the daughter of Aether and Gaia (upper air and earth). Socordia, is one of the guardians of the court of Hypnos (sleep).

Powers: Socordia is responsible for sloth and laziness in humans.

Defense against Socordia: Invoking the power of Socordia's "opposite", Hormes, the god of effort.

Adephagia is the Greek goddess of gluttony.

Appearance: Unknown. However, in modern times Adaphagia is portrayed as a morbidly obese woman.

Lore: Adephagia had a temple in Sicily and is associated with the goddess Demeter. Even though her name means gluttony, experts believe she was really worshiped as a goddess of prosperity or abundance.

Powers: Unknown, possibly causing people to overeat and become obese.

Defense Against Adephagia: Unknown, possibly exercise and moderate eating.

Apate, is the Greek goddess or daimona (female spirit) of deceit and fraud. In Rome she was referred to as Fraus.

Appearance: A snake with a woman's face and the sting of a scorpion.

Lore: In Greece, Apate/Fraus was one of the inflictions of mankind that were imprisoned in a box and given to Pandora for safekeeping. Pandora opened the box, allowing the daimons to flee and to plague mankind ever since. Apate, like most of the daimons that plague mankind, is the child of Nyx, the goddess of night.

Powers: Apate/Fraus travels the world spreading deceit, lies and fraud where she goes. She is capable of inflicting much harm and of even controlling people.

Defense Against Fraus/Apate: Unknown.  Living an honest life may help diminish her influence over someone.

Man Sues Seattle Police Department Over Photos Released Of Kurt Cobain's Death Scene

Richard Lee is suing the Seattle Police Department for not releasing the pictures they recently released sooner. Apparently there is a Washington law that makes a fine of anywhere from $5-$100 a day per document possible. This would be an incredibly huge fine for the Seattle Police Department if he wins the case. The fine could be greater than $730,000.00, possibly even over a million dollars. The problem is that Richard Lee is representing himself. I would venture to say the suit will probably be thrown out. Richard Lee needs to find a real, competent lawyer to work this case.

I'm not a fan of Richard Lee but he is on the right path. The Seattle Police Department screwed the Kurt Cobain death investigation up from day one and they are responsible for actively preventing justice in this case. Problems arose from the first minutes of them arriving on scene where they declared it was a suicide to the police not taking items into evidence, or destroying evidence, to the many mistakes contained in the police records. Problems also arise with bias on the part of the Seattle Police as apparently Courtney Love was a possible CI or drug informant. It appears as if someone on the force even went as far as censoring police records in order to protect Courtney Love. For more information on these things, see my timeline at the below link.

Today Is The 20th Anniversary Of The Death Of Kurt Cobain

Twenty years ago today Kurt Cobain was likely murdered. Although it's believed he died on April 5, 1994, his body would not be discovered until April 8, 1994, when Courtney Love specifically hired an electrician to work on the greenhouse.

To learn of all the strange things that were going on in the days before and after Kurt's death, things that indicate a potential murder, read my timeline at the below link.

Animal Sacrifices Found In Washington, D.C. Park

The remains of several chickens and a pigeon were found in a park in Washington, D.C. Authorities are convinced it was animal sacrifice and are not sure which group may be responsible.

Note: I want to applaud the writers for including that most animal sacrifices in various alternative religions are eaten. This said, this is probably an act of witchcraft, as in curse. Sometimes animals are killed as part of a spell and not part of a religious ceremony. These animals killed for a spell are not usually eaten. However, most times in witchcraft an animal is tortured and killed in order to bring about destruction and death to an enemy. There would need to be something from the victim included in the animal sacrifices, such as stuffing a living bird with the victim's photo. So finding something that would link to the victim would be a sure way of determining that this was the remains of a curse. If no such articles can be recovered then it might be that the guilty person is a rogue follower of Santeria and is not associated directly with the religion and has no real guidance from a priest or priestess. If this is the case the person would pretty much be "doing there own thing" and making it up as they go.

Dr. Evelyn Paglini Has Passed Away

Dr. Evelyn Paglini has passed away. Paglini was a practicing witch and semi-celebrity, having appeared on Coast to Coast AM with both Art Bell and George Noory from the 1990s up to 2013. Paglini's appearances on Coast to Coast AM remained popular for her psychic predictions and the free spells she gave out to listeners. Paglini also owned her own occult store, Mystical Blend. On Saturday, March 29, 2014, Paglini passed away from heart failure. The current inventory at her store will be sold and then the store will close.

I had  a love/hate relationship with Paglini, even though I never met her or conversed with her. I loved her attitude about "fighting evil." However, Paglini was incredibly wrong at times and was involved in practices that people really should know about. In the early 1970s Paglini was a practicing satanist, although it was a different form of satanism than the LaVeyan satanism that most are familiar with. She created her own satanic church in Chicago in 1974. In the 1980s Paglini reinvented herself as an alleged neopagan, stregha-witch, with an unusual sounding name of her alleged tradition (genesian?), which she claims was taught to her by a relative. Unfortunately, there's simply no evidence to indicate any of this is true. It seems as if she just made this up and went with it, developing this mythology as the years passed. If this wasn't bad enough, in the 1980s Paglini supported the claims of alleged SRA survivors. SRA (satanic ritual abuse) is the claim that satanic cults are abusing children in satanic rites, performing human sacrifice and forcing young girls to be "breeders", to constantly give birth to babies which would then be sacrificed to Satan. To date no alleged "SRA survivor" has ever presented sufficient proof or evidence to indicate their claims are valid. What is proven is that the false accusation by these "survivors" have destroyed the lives of countless innocent people. By supporting these mentally ill people Paglini has played her part in destroying innocent lives as well. Finally, I need to touch on the magic spells that Paglini performed. It's clear to me that Paglini took hoodoo, a.k.a root work or conjure, and tried to turn it into a neopagan craft. Even though Paglini seemingly stole stuff from hoodoo she seemingly did not have a basic understanding of what she was doing. This is evident in the recommendations she made concerning the candles, colors and oils she made to people during her interviews. It seems she knew "just enough" about hoodoo to get by with stealing it but truly lacked a basic foundation of understanding.

Now, I reveal these stuff not because I'm a "hater." I reveal this stuff because I purposefully wait until someone has passed away in order to reveal what I know about them. I believe it's important that people know she was a satanist and that she pretty much made up her claims about a hereditary line of witchcraft. This said, I viewed her in the light of entertainment. I enjoyed her media presentations and I will miss hearing more from her.

R.I.P. Dr. Evelyn Paglini. Below is one of her first, if not her actual first, appearance on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell. This program aired on July 16, 1997.
