Maximon/San Simon

Maximon/San Simon (pronounced "Mash-ih-mon" or "Match-ih-mon" and "San Si-moan"), sometimes referred to Hermano (brother), is a Guatemalan folk saint associated with wealth, luck. prosperity, health, fertility, blessings, and protection, especially from witchcraft. The word Maximon (the tied-up one) is perhaps his true name. The name San Simon, though more popular today, is perhaps the name of the newly evolved form.

Appearance: An adult Guatamalan man with a moustache, dressed in 19th century-style dark clothing and carrying a rifle and a bag of money. Sometimes he carries a wooden baton. San Simon is almost always portrayed as being seated. For images of Maximon/San Simon, click HERE.

Lore: There is much misinformation being spread about San Simon/Maximon. The misinformation is similar to that being spread about Santa Muerte, mainly that San Simon is a pagan god that survived the coming of Christianity. Certain individuals claim that San Simon is the survival of the worship of a pagan Mayan deity named Mam. In reality there is no evidence for such. The word 'mam' means 'grandfather' and is not the proper name of a deity but is used as a term to denote any elderly male god. So there are multiple "mams" in Mayan mythology. However, mam meaning grandfather is a word that is still used to this day and thus it is far more likely that any use of mam connected to the veneration of San Simon is merely used as a term of respect for elders, with San Simon being the highest "elder" of the community.

The origins of San Simon are murky for sure but what little evidence exists suggests that San Simon's "birth" began as a ritual involving the creation of an effigy as a charm to destroy and drive off witches and witchcraft. Thus San Simon's "power" to grant prosperity, wealth, fertility, etc., is simply the restoration of normalcy once the witches have been defeated. With time this more than likely became confused with San Simon granting these things in exchange for his veneration. From the clothing we can ascertain that sometime in the 19th century San Simon began to evolve as a character and his look began to be more or less "fixed" with 19th century clothing. Prior to this time all the effigies of San Simon were made of rags and straw, with perhaps a mask and a hat. The Catholic Church at first approved of the veneration of San Simon or at least turned a blind eye to the practice. I would propose that when San Simon began to evolve from an effigy meant to drive off witches into a personality or figure of devotion, that that is when the Catholic Church began to have issues with the veneration of San Simon. The reason I suggest this is because the Catholic Church originally allowed the effigies in the Church. The effigies were tied up in a high place within the church, which is where the name "Maximon" (the tied-up one) comes from. Then something happened where the Church forbid the effigies in the church. I would suggest that a possible answer is that the priests began to realize that the people had crossed the line into venerating the effigy as an actual spiritual entity unto itself instead of viewing it as simply a charm to ward off evil. Part of the crusade to eradicate the veneration of this new folk saint involved the Catholic Church equating San Simon with Judas Iscariot, the betrayer of Christ. Such equations backfired. Instead of viewing San Simon as a devil or figure of evil, as most Christians view Judas to be, they began to view him in a more positive light as even though Judas Iscariot betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver, he also gave that silver away to the needy before he killed himself. The Catholic Church failed at eradicating the veneration of San Simon but the equation of San Simon with Judas Iscariot has remained among believers.

One folk legend on the birth of San Simon involves a man-whore and trickster who managed to sleep with all the women in the community while the men where away. As punishment he had his arms and legs chopped off. He then bled to death in a field (his blood fertilizing the crops), and his spirit was transformed into San Simon, the folk saint. This legend most likely arose because some of the effigies of him are without legs and arms. In fact, the original effigies of Maximon were made of rags and straw, with a mask and hat. These effigies did not have arms or legs. Most likely sometime in the 19th century this then evolved into Maximon developing his own look and character, that which we see today.

San Simon is a trickster. He will deceive you if you aren't careful. His tricks are associated with his sense of humor but he does have a dark side and can be cruel at times. He is also a very macho spirit. His offerings include liquor, tobacco, tortillas, corn, hot peppers, candy, money, as well as music and songs. He is also given blood sacrifices, usually chickens. He can accept any offering though as long as it is given in good faith. Sometimes his offerings are burned. It is extremely important to realize that he is Judas Iscariot. That is something that his believers have accepted.

Powers- San Simon can grant wealth, prosperity, luck, good harvests, ensure fertility, grant blessings, heal, and grant protection, especially from witchcraft in return for his veneration and giving him his offerings.

Defense Against San Simon - The only people who truly have a need to fear San Simon are witches, as in evil-doers, workers of black magic against innocents, as his original function is to destroy witches and witchcraft.

Benedicaria

Benedicaria (Way of Blessing) is a modern term created to be used as an umbrella descriptive term for traditional Italian folk magic. The practice of Benedicaria dates back at least to the Christianization of Italy back in Roman times and actually represents a transition from pagan folk magic into Christian folk magic.

Practitioners of Benedicaria are Christians and work primarily with what people call "white magic", often by calling upon God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Virgin Mary, and the Saints, for various purposes such as; cleansings, healings, protection, exorcisms, and blessings. Negative work such as banishings and other works are also used but only if the work is deemed justified. The bible, crucifixes or crosses, rosaries, statues of the saints, holy water, and other items such as herbs, roots, and natural items are employed in various rites.

Benedicaria should not be confused with Sregheria (witchcraft), even though outsiders may accuse practitioners of practicing witchcraft. Since the latter 1800s numerous authors with various agendas have attempted to claim that stregheria is the traditional practice of Italy. In reality, witchcraft has always been viewed as evil and true Benedicaria practitioners do not refer to themselves as witches. The difference between Benedicaria and Stregheria would be the same difference between a witch doctor or shaman and a witch. Witch doctors and shamans oppose and fight/remove witchcraft. Thus, Benedicaria acts to counter the effects of witchcraft and can remove curses and fight witches who may be spiritually attacking clients. Generally, the typical person who continues to 'muddy the waters', spreading the misinformation about Stregheria are modern Neopagans who claim to be Streghe or part of a pagan tradition that has survived the coming of Christianity. To date there has never been any evidence submitted to prove such claims and all the present information suggests that the tradition of Stregheria, as a surviving pagan religion, is a modern invention.

The quickest way to determine if someone is a genuine practitioner vs. a modern stregheria practitioner is that practitioners of Benedicaria are Christian and do not worship pagan gods while practitioners of stregheria will worship pagan gods as well as claim to work with the saints in their magic.

Benedicaria is extremely similar to other forms of Christian Folk Magic, such as Curanderismo and Hoodoo/Rootwork/Conjure.

Ekkeko

Ekkeko (pronounced "e-kay-ko") is the Incan hearth god associated with luck and prosperity.

Appearance: A small man with various objects tied to his body. For images of Ekkeko, click HERE.

Lore: The worship of Ekkeko continues into present times with the keeping and honoring of Ekkeko dolls, small clay or porcelain dolls of a man with an open mouth and with various items tied to his body. The Ekkeko dolls are honored each year with offerings. According to belief, if a symbolic representation of one's wish is tied to the Ekkeko doll before January 24 then the wish will be granted during the new year. Offerings of candy, tobacco, sugar, or other items usually in a small bag can be tied to the statue as well. Once an item is tied onto the Ekkeko doll it must never be removed. Ekkeko loves offerings of lit cigarettes which are placed in the mouth of the Ekkeko doll and allowed to burn out. According to legend, the length of the ash of the cigarette, without falling, indicates how much good luck the owner of the Ekkeko doll will have in the new year. (Note: Most cigarettes in the U.S. are made with fire safety paper, meaning that if a lit cigarette is left out then it will extinguish itself. They do this to help prevent fires. On the sides of the cigarette pack will be "FSC" or some variation indicating it is fire safety paper. This means you can't use it as an omen to determine how much luck you will have in the new year.)

Powers: Ekkeko has power over luck and prosperity and can grant wishes.

Defense Against Ekkeko: Ekkeko is generally no threat to humans. However, only those who can handle maintaining an Ekkeko doll should own one. If an owner foolishly neglects or abuses the doll then perhaps Ekkeko might punish the person with bad luck.

Who Is The Mysterious Boston Naked Man?

Police/FBI arrested a man and ordered him to strip naked in public! The man appeared to look very similar to the first suspect, the one that was killed. Some believe he was the first suspect, meaning that he was taken live into custody and then somehow killed after already being in custody. Some even say he was ran over by either the second suspect or police. However, the truth is that we have no answers as to his identity. Do you know this naked man?

Was Boston Bombing Suspect Given A Tracheostomy To Prevent Him From Talking

The second suspect was in the boat. The police fired rubber bullets at him. We see him come out of the boat. Then all of a sudden he's supposedly in a life-or-death situation and they have to give him a tracheostomy. So let me propose the question. Was the 19 year-old suspect purposefully given a tracheostomy, possibly even drugged unconscious, to prevent him from talking?

Family Guy Boston Bombing Conspiracy

I've written on this dozens of time on YouTubes and forums. So it's time to blog on this.

There's a video online that someone uploaded and suggested that Family Guy predicted the Boston Bombing. The uploader is a total douche bag who spliced unrelated segments together to make it appear that Family Guy predicted the tragedy. What happened was that there was a scene of Peter driving a car in the Boston Marathon, running over and killing runners. The uploaders took this and spliced it with another clip where Peter befriended a terrorist and used a cell phone he was given which triggered bombs when it was used. So these are two separate scenes that the uploader spliced together to make it look like Peter was able to kill people in the Boston Marathon by using a cell phone to detonate bombs. Again, the uploader is a total douche bag, a real nutter. Family Guy did not predict the Boston Bombing.

Signs Indicating The Boston Bombing May Be A False Flag

These are all signs that the Boston Bombing may have been a false flag. This list may grow with time.

Signs The Boston Bombings May Be A False Flag

1. The Boston Bombings took place on Patriot Day. Timing could indicate they are going to blame "a right-wing extremist group".

2. The Boston Bombings took place on tax day. Timing could indicate they are going to blame an anti-government, "right-wing extremist group" which opposes taxation.

3. There was a bomb drill that occurred at the exact same time as the bombing. This sort of thing happens frequently with other alleged false flags. For example, 9/11, Oklahoma City Bombing, 7/7/7 London Bombings, and the Newtown Shooting all occurred during drills which simulated the same or similar scenarios. Additionally witnesses reported seeing bomb-smelling dogs at the start and finish lines as well as bomb-spotters prior to the bombs going off.

4.) Witnesses report hearing announcements for people not to worry during the bombing because it was just a 'training exercise'.

5. Event Stacking - Event stacking is the placement of a false flag near the anniversary of other false flags in order to "piggy-back" on the fear and strong emotions. The Boston Bombings occurred on the heels of the Waco tragedy, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the Columbine Shootings, and the Virgina Tech Shooting.

6. No terrorist or extremist group has taken credit for the bombing. Most of these types of organizations want the publicity. This is odd.

7. Media reported that a suspect was arrested and was taken to the courthouse. Then a bombing threat was allegedly made to the courthouse and the courthouse was evacuated. Then the media reported that they were now told there never was an arrest of a suspect. Meanwhile, alternative media had been reporting since almost the beginning that the authorities were going to arrest a white gun-lover to blame it on. The belief is that the alternative media made such a stink that the plan was shelved and two Muslim patsies were chosen to blame the bombing on.

8. Ricin-laced letters sent to politician and President Obama mimic Anthrax-laced letters/packages after 9/11.

9. Authorities released pictures of the suspects and then requested the public to help identify them. A couple of days later it was revealed the pair was being investigated by the FBI for the past 5 years. Therefore, the notion that the authorities DIDN'T KNOW who they were was a sham.

10. Tameran Tsarnaev, the suspect who was allegedly killed, attended a CIA workshop.

11. "Authorities" originally stated that the second suspect, 19 year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, opened fire from the boat in which he was hiding. "Authorities" then returned fire on the boat with rubber bullets in order to subdue him. At some point Dzhokhar Tsarnaev shot himself in the throat. Then it was released this story was all lies. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev did not have a gun and never opened fired on the "authorities". The "authorities" did not use rubber bullets but decided to basically kill him and opened fire on the boat. Only when the "authorities" realized that the media was filming it did they stop shooting into the boat.

12. Pictures of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev climbing out of the boat do not show any injury to his throat or any blood on his throat or clothing. Yet within five minutes of exiting the boat the "authorities" said he was in critical condition and had to be given a tracheotomy.

13.  Ibragim Todashev, a 27 year-old friend of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot 7 times, 6 times in the body and once in the head, by an FBI agent during an interrogation. Todashev allegedly told other friends that he feared the FBI were going to kill him. The reason for his killing was first reported that he flipped over a table and began to attack an agent with a knife. It has since been released that Todashev was unarmed. After being shot to death the agents who were interrogating him claimed he confessed that he and and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were involved in a triple homicide in 2011. How convenient.

Book Review: Old Style Spiritual Cleansings by Momma Starr

The book is, Old Style Spiritual Cleansings by Momma Starr.

Let me ask you a couple of questions. Would you go a week, a month, a year, multiple years, without bathing/showering? If not, then why would you go that time without doing spiritual cleansings? Because just like a person with poor hygiene can offend people with their b.o., people who do not take care of themselves offend people who are sensitive. Trust me, as a sensitive person I can tell if someone is walking around with a lot of junk they need to get off of them.

I think many people don't realize how important spiritual cleansings are. As a conjure worker I see countless cases of people with problems that could have been lessened or nipped in the bud if the person would have just taken care of it with routine spiritual cleansings.

In this book Momma Starr delves into the importance of spiritual cleansings and how to perform them. What is so wonderful about this book is that Momma Starr shows that spiritual cleansing are not just baths. Sure, everyone knows about spiritual baths. Spiritual baths are a mainstay in the work but they are not the only method of spiritual cleansing. Momma Starr covers many wonderful ways in which one can perform. I for one am partial to the candle cleansings because when you do one you just know if it's stuck or not because you can feel the candle pull it off. But there are countless more ways than even the candle method. In fact, I think Momma Starr mentions just about every method possible, save for a few such as bathing in natural bodies of water, rub down with fresh sprigs of herbs or plants, the use of a brush, the blowing of smoke (smoking a client), or the use of lighted candles (lighted and then passed over the body), but I think most of these come from other traditions but they can still be used in spiritual cleansings.

Included in the book is a very special treat, how Momma Starr performs a cleansing on clients, both in person and long distance. That alone is worth the price of the book. I'm going to have to talk to her about that because she is writing about something that I know from personal experience save that no rope was involved but a cross was drawn on the ground with chalk (you will need to read the book to understand).

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this book a 9. It's a must read for those interested in hoodoo/rootwork/conjure and especially for new professional workers. It would make a wonderful addition to your conjure library.
