This man supposedly admitted to being high on bath salts. But as far as I know, they don't cause this type of behavior. Seems authorities need something to blame, like you said, to calm the crowd. But he admitted to it? Of course, authorities could be lying, or this man could just want attention.. although with some of the things that happened, the latter seems unlikely.
Don't know. Just speculating. The whole thing is so bizarre.
