The True Story - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (2012)
Note: Regarding the segment on the Betty & Barney Hill abduction, what is almost always left out on any article or t.v. segment is that an unidentified object was tracked on two (2) separate radar systems over the location and on the same night that the Hill's claim they were abducted.

Ah yes, the Hills. They were the genesis of this madness. I was enthralled as a kid with their story - how could THEY, a sweet older couple from rural New England, perpetrate a fraud!?! or so I thought.
I'm not sure why you would claim that they perpetrated a fraud when they didn't even want to come forward and the news only broke when a media person betrayed their wishes and ran the story. Doesn't sound like the behavior of a couple committing fraud. Also doesn't sound like fraud when Barney pleaded to have sensitive information kept out of the news accounts, that information being that a sperm sample was taken from him.
But the major thing that causes me to so easily discount accusations of fraud is that it would be extremely hard to fake an unidentified craft that flew in the sky and was able to be picked up by two (2) separate radar systems.
One more thing, the Hills were not the first reported case of alien abduction. They were simply the first in the U.S. to be reported. One of the firs reported cases was the Vilas-Boas case of 1957 in which one Antonio Vilas-Boas claimed to have been abducted by small beings and taken aboard a craft where he was forced to have sex with a very strange looking "woman". However, news of this reported incident didn't break big in the U.S. until after the Hills incident. And of course this is indication that some form of breeding or reproduction experiment seems to have been at the center of the experience from the very beginning of the phenomenon. The "pregnancy test" that Betty underwent and the sperm sample that was taken from Barney fit well into this reproductive goal of the alleged aliens, mainly the creation of a race of beings that look completely human but have the mental abilities of the "aliens".
