I've been one of the few people online stating that there was no evidence that the Miami 'zombie' who ate the face off of a homeless man was high on 'bath salts'. I also stated that I believed this was a cover-story that was given in order to calm the public down and prevent further inquiry into the possible causes of the incident. Now the official toxicology results have been released and the 'zombie' in question, Rudy Eugene, had marijuana in his system but not 'bath salts' or any other drug.
I think that this 'zombie' outbreak may in fact be a genuine mystery that needs to be properly investigated. If it turns out to be a virus then it may take decades before it is discovered and only if researchers are looking for it. Look how long it took for the HIV virus to be discovered and that was with teams of researchers looking for it. As far as I know, nobody is even questioning if there may be a pathogen responsible for these 'zombie' attacks.
Just for the record, pot gives you the munchies. It does not make you eat the face off of a human being.
Marijuana found in face-chewer's body, but no other drugs, medical examiner says

They didn't find human flesh in his stomach, and unless he smoked on the causeway, he wouldn't have been high when he got to popo since I've walked that causeway and it takes about an hour and twenty minutes from miami beach on 5th St.
I wonder if he could've smoked synthetic pot...would that show up as regular MJ on a toxicology report? Haven't some of the other zombie attacks been related to synthetic pot?
@ Anonymous at 2:03 AM,
Even if he was high as a kite it wouldn't matter because marijuana doesn't cause violent behavior. I've been reading some sites and now people are starting blame weed. Please people, wake the fuck up! Weed does not cause this type of behavior.
@ Anonymous at 1:15 PM,
Synthetic Weed is nothing close to actual natural marijuana and doesn't contain any compounds similar to THC. Instead, it's just various chemicals that are sprayed on a herbal or binder material that is meant to be burned. Synthetic weed is actually marketted as "incense" and is supposed to burned as such but people smoke it instead. So no, synthetic weed would not test as natural THC from mariuana on drug tests. What the 'zombie' had in his system was natural marijuana, which his girlfriend admitted he smoked on almost a daily basis.
Yes, it was well known he smoked marijuana, and yes, it's illegal, but weed actually calms you and has no such symptoms even close to Rudy Eugene's behavior. It's laughable when people blame pot.
One thing that interests me.. how come there was no mention of the undigested pills found in his stomach? I mean, it was probably nothing, but does anyone know what they were?
@ Cait,
Yep. No further word. This case is so bizarre. Just like only one article I've read so far mentioned that pages from the bible were found scattered on the path he walked. Something's not right about this whole thing.
If potential, as you grow to be expertise, would you thoughts updating your blog with more details.
