The term Wave refers to a season or year in which multiple, high-profile UFO sightings have taken place across a nation, country, or world-wide. For example, 1952 is sometimes described as the year of the UFO, due to a wave of reported UFO sightings in the U.S. The term is used to describe how reported sightings build, climax, and then dwindle in number.
