Lore: According to lore, the Mount Tom Bear is the ghost of an old man who lived in a shack in the woods. The shack burned down, killing the man and his spirit is alleged to have haunted the area ever since. Usually the ghost manifests as noises indicating to hunters and people in the woods that they are being followed.
