The Music Of Loreena McKennitt

Around Halloween time I love to listen Loreena McKennitt. Halloween, for me at least, is not just a time for scares and treats, but rather is also a time of spirituality or at last introspection. Here are a few of my favorites. I will share with you my thought and what I envision while listening to Loreena McKennitt's beautiful songs.

With the song Prologue, I envision Druids walking their paths to their sacred groves.

With Tango To Evora, I envision some type of ritual or goddess worship. The song sounds very "Etruscan" to me.

Okay, with Mummer's Dance, I envision a grandfather clock striking midnight on Samhain and the souls of the dead rising from their graves and a shaft of light bursting through the fairy mounds as the good people walk openly amongst the mortals. I imagine a fairy procession in progress.

What I love about Marco Polo is that it's both Celtic and Indian (from India). It's a wonderful blend of both cultures. Also, when I listen to it I envision the old-fashioned "hand-dancing". You know, the kind where the couple places one hand flat together so that they touch.

I love the song below so much. It's one of my favorites by Loreena McKennitt.
