Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Today is the first day of Autumn.

Wishing Everyone A Wonderful Autumnal Equinox And Autumn Season!

Also, Tonight Is The Harvest Moon, The Full Moon Nearest The Autumnal Equinox.

Mabon (circa September 21-24), is the Wiccan sabbat or celebration of the Autumnal Equinox, the second harvest festival of the year and a time of thanksgiving. On this day the goddess and the god of Wicca would be honored for thanked for their blessings of a bountiful harvest. For this reason, Mabon is often referred to as the "Witches Thanksgiving".

The name Mabon comes from the Celtic god, Mabon/Maponos, meaning "divine youth". Mabon/Maponos was equated with Apollo by the Romans.

As Mabon/Maponos may have been a god with solar attributes, it's important to honor and celebrate the last remaining strength of the sun at this time. The next Wiccan sabbat is Samhain, the time when the sun "dies" as the weather turns colder and we head into winter.

Ramirez, Gloria

Gloria Ramirez, dubbed the Toxic Lady by the media, was an unfortunate woman who was rushed to the emergency room in Riverside, CA, on February 19, 1994.

Ramirez, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer, was suffering from abnormal heart and breathing rates, as well as displayed confused or erratic speech.

Ramirez has a place in the this blog due to the perplexing and horrific events that soon took place after her arrival at the hospital.

According to the medical staff, Ramirez had an oily substance form on her skin and her breath smelled of a sickly-sweet, garlic-like odor. When blood was drawn from her for testing staff reported the sample gave off a chemical smell similar to ammonia. In addition to the smell, staff noticed strange particulates floating in the blood sample and became aware of what they described as fumes emanating from Ramirez' body.

Within a short amount of time, staff began fainting and complaining of symptoms such as burning sensations on their skin, severe nausea, breathing difficulties, and uncontrollable spasms and/or flailing of the limbs. The hospital was quickly evacuated.

Of the 37 staff members present, as many as 32 reported symptoms they associated to contact with the toxic gas and/or substance they believed came from the body of Ramirez.

Unfortunately Ramirez did not survive. A subsequent autopsy concluded she had died from kidney failure associated with her cancer.

As far as the symptoms experienced by the staff as well as their claims of toxic fumes and substances, such were said to be attributed by the California Department of Health to mass hysteria. Other possible explanations evolve the medicines Ramirez was taking to have been converted to dimethyl sulfate, a type of nerve gas, inside Ramirez' body. To date, many people are not satisfied with the official explanation of what happened. Many people continue to believe that the hospital covered-up and destroyed evidence which would have solved the mystery.

Gloria Ramirez' body was not released to the family until some two months after her death, at which time the body was far too decomposed for a proper second autopsy. Because of such, it is likely the events of what happened that February day will remain a mystery.

Interesting Comment On UFO Article

While reading an article on UFOs, I found the following comment and was intrigued.

"UFOs are mechanical computers
I was invited to join a government study of unidentified phenomenon. I believe the study was classified, but I was never asked to sign a non-disclosure. I was only peripherally involved in the study. But what I do know is that there are objects near the earth that did not evolve on the earth. There are no "aliens" inside these craft, as everyone assumes. Instead, what the current hypothesis says, is that there are trillions (literally) of highly advanced computer-like structures throughout the universe. They are mechanical in nature, and have intense processing power. They probably operate using quantum calculation. They are not "visiting" the earth any more than they are "visiting" any other planet. There are simply so many of these things throughout the universe that they are near just about every planet. The hypothesis is that they self-replicate, and that they may be networked together in some loose fashion. There is evidence that they have been around since near the beginning of the universe.

The reason for secrecy is two fold. First, we don't know if they are a threat to humanity. They do not appear to be a physical threat, in that when one of them enters the atmosphere it does not attempt to interact with humans or human technology. In fact, they explicitly avoid collision with aircraft if a plane or jet comes near one. The threat is believed to be psychological rather than physical, wherein they may interact with the human brain and influence human thinking through some sort of virtual reality. Many people describe events that they think happened to them when near one of these objects, when other nearby witnesses do not describe the same series of events.

The second reason for secrecy is that many people may not be able to come to grips with the fact that there are "living" objects in the universe that are not based on carbon, and are not based on biology. They are more akin to computers, yet they are just as "alive" as we are, and a lot older, and light years more advanced in knowledge, and maybe even spirituality, than we are."
-Eric of MI

I can't vouch for the truth of the above comment but I do find it very interesting since I am of the opinion that if UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial then they would be examples of advanced intelligent machines.

In fact, any occupants may be created by these machines, perhaps even from our own DNA, as a workforce.

If members of the government secretly believe this to be the case then this might be a good reason for the secrecy surrounding UFOs. The knowledge that UFOs are intelligent machines may be too much for the public to handle.

Family spooked as 'Satan' possesses new bathroom

Note: This is classic pareidolia. The mind is programmed to make sense of the world, especially to recognize shapes and patters. This is the same process that allows us to see images in clouds.

I too have seen demonic or monster faces in spackled walls and ceilings. However, I figured out long ago that there was a connection to my emotional state at the time I saw it. If I was happy I tended to see happy or neutral faces. If I was upset or angry I saw demonic or monstrous faces.

And yes, sorry to bust your bubble but Jesus and Mary do not appear on toast, candy, or even in bird droppings, as one Texas family claimed. All images of Jesus and Mary appearing on random stuff is simply pareidolia as well. People see Jesus and Mary on a grilled cheese sandwich because they want to see them. Hindus for example might see Ganesh.

A Shroud-eater is the common English name for the Germanic Nachzehrer and Latin De Masticatione Mortuorum.

Unlike modern notions of vampires, shroud-eaters do not consume blood but rather the life-force of victims by consuming their grave shrouds, nearby buried corpses, and even their own bodies.

Shroud-eaters are commonly associated with plagues. The first victim of a plague was generally believed to be the vampire responsible for the plauge. Villages would often dig up corpses they suspected were shroud-eaters in order to dispatch them.

See Nachzehre - So What Is A Shroudeater?

'Shroud-Eaters': Odd burial is tied to legend of vampires

De Masticatione Mortuorum

De masticatione Mortuorum, "The Chewing Dead", is the Latin version of the Germanic Nachzehrer.

Like the Germanic counterpart, the 'chewing dead' are believed to spread disease and to drain the life force of victims by consuming their grave shrouds, nearby buried corpses, and their own bodies.

In 1679, Philip Rohr wrote a famous book of the same name, documenting the widespread belief in this form of vampire.

See Nachzehrer

A nachzehrer is a type of Germanic vampire. The name nachzehrer translates as "afterwards devourer".

Appearance: An undead corpse

Lore: People who have committed suicide, have led sinful lives, or have died violent deaths are at risk for becoming these vampires.

Unlike the modern concept of vampire, nachzehrer are more frequently known for the ability to drain the life force of victims as well as spread disease by devouring their grave shroud, nearby buried corpses, and even their own bodies.

Nachzehrers are believed to be able to leave their graves by shape-shifting into animals such as pigs. They are also reported to be able to ring church bells. Those who hear the ringing of the bells will soon die.

Powers: As a nachzehrer chews it's grave shroud, consumes corpses, or consumes it's own body, it spreads diseases and drains the life force of victims. In addition, it is believed that nachzehrers can also kill their victims by casting their shadow upon them. Nachzehrers also possess the ability to shape-shift.

Protection From Nachzehrers: Unlike traditional concepts of killing vampires, nachzehrers are rarely staked. A nachzehrer can be killed by decapitation or by fire. A nachzehrer can be rendered harmless by placing objects, such as a coin, in the mouth of a corpse, thus preventing the vampire from chewing it's grave shroud or consuming it's body.

OMG!....TrueBlood Season 3 Finale Rocked!

I LOVED it! And let me just say, Jesus as a Brujo is fracking awesome! Unfortunately there is one small problem. Jesus might be the evil variety. If you noticed the visions that Lafayette were having were coming from Jesus. In fact, in the scene where Lafayette hallucinates while talking with Sam, you can hear Jesus' voice. I can't remember exactly what was said, but it was something like, "If you break my heart I'll kill you".

Did anyone catch the voodoo doll in Jessica and Hoyt's new house? LOL

All I can say is that I think the series is veering off of the books as from what I'm told Bill leaves and is gone for most of what would be season 4; however, it now appears as if it's Tara who is the one who is leaving. Also, in the books I believe it is a female witch who dominates in season 4. Now it appears as if Jesus might be the "big bad" of season 4. Very interesting.

Oh, and I think most viewers came away with the feeling that Hoyt's mother is about to play "Buffy" and stake Jessica, or at least try to anyway. Man, I can't wait until season 4!

The Event......Will Blow Your Mind

What is the event? Well, if rumors are true, the event on the show the Event would be the public acknowledgement of the existence of aliens and the fact that they walk amongst us in our shape and form.

The pilot episode will deal with an assassination plot on the president. If the rumor of what the event is turns out to be true, then the the assassination plot might be a reference to JFK, with an addedd 9/11 flare.

It was long rumored that JFK was advised by Eisenhower that a special group called MJ12 was handling the UFO issue but that in time they group evolved to the point where it was no longer under presidential authority, meaning they had become a power greater than the president. According to believers, one of the reasons why JFK was assassinated was because he attempted to reign in MJ12, make it once more submit to presidential authority. Another reason believers feel JFK was assassinated is that he threatened to release what the government knew about UFOs to the public. See JFK UFO Conspiracy for more info.

I might add that after Eisenhower it is widely believed that subsequent presidents knew little to nothing of what the government knew about UFOs, save for George Bush, Sr., who was once head of the CIA. If anyone was in a position to know a thing or two about UFOs, Bush was definitely the man. The other presidents are believed to be purposefully kept in the dark.

Reportedly, by the second episode of the series the nature of what the event actually is will become clear. I can't wait!

The Event will premiere on September 20.

The Flatwoods Monster

The Flatwoods Monster is a reported alien that was sighted on the night of September 12, 1952, in Flatwoods, WV. The sighting achieved widespread media coverage.

Appearance: A 10-12ft tall being with green skin, a red face with blue-glowing eyes, and a large head shaped like an ace of spades or an upside-down heart. You can view drawings of the Flatwoods Monster, HERE, HERE, and HERE. There is some confusion on whether the Flatwoods Monster was a robot or a creature in some form of protective or robotic suit.

Lore: Shortly after 7pm on the night of September 12, 1952, three boys witnessed a shooting star land on a nearby hill. The boys returned to the home of two of the boys and informed the mother, Kathleen May, of what they had seen. Kathleen May suggested that she, the boys, as well as two other boys and 17-year old National Guardsman named Eugene Lemnon, should go investigate. There was a total of 7 people in the group. Lemnon also decided to bring his dog.

As the group neared the top of the hill the dog began to act strange, as if frightened. There was a pungent, sulfur-like smell in the air that burned the witnesses eyes and noses. Near where the shooting star or meteor was believed to have landed, the group reported seeing a large UFO that appeared as a pulsating ball of light

Eugene Lemnon turned on his flashlight and shown it in the direction only to uncover a horrible site. At a nearby tree stood a monster. The creature was described as being around 10ft tall, having a green body, a red face, and a head shaped like an ace of spades. The creature made hissing noises like an animal and glided toward them. It was then that the group fled in terror. Upon arriving home the police were called and the experience would later achieve widespread media coverage.

In honor of the sighting, the town of Flatwoods, WV, hosts an annual "Flatwoods Days Green Monster Festival" each year in September.

Wicca is a nature-based, neopagan religion and tradition of witchcraft. The word Wicca derives from 'wicce' and 'wicca', Old English words for witch.

The origins of Wicca can be traced to the late 1800s and to the Art Nouveau period, however, most scholars only acknowledge a history dating back to the founder of Wicca, Gerald Gardner, in the late 1940s and 1950s. Like many religions, Wiccans have their own mythology. For Wiccans this mythology takes the form of a fictitious or mythological history dating back thousands of years.

To provide a very brief history of the religion, the first predecessors for Wicca began in the late 1800s coinciding with the Art Nouveau period. This period of time occurred when more and more people were living in cities and a rural existence for the first time became the exception and not the norm.

The price to pay for this transition was the loss of nature and the development of a strong desire for the return to nature. Such was the movement of Art Nouveau.

At this time a more romanticized image of the pre-Christian pagan religions and cultures came to dominate the imagination. Such would ultimately lay the foundation for the growth of Wicca.

Other than Art Nouveau, other things would come to set the stage for the arrival of Wicca. Other influences on the birth of Wicca include, but are not limited to:

-European folk magic and medicine

-Ceremonial Magic

-The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn

-Ordo Templi Orientis

- Medieval or literary Satanism

- The teachings of Aliester Crowley

-The Golden Bough: A Study In Magic And Religion by Sir James George Frazer (1890), a groundbreaking work in which the author made the arrogant assumption that all religion and spirituality can be condensed into a single storyline, involving a dying-and-rising god/king figure who is the consort of an all-powerful fertility goddess. The book is a poetic masterpiece but unfortunately it has been rejected as being an example of the pseudo-scholarly and overly-reductionist attitude prevalent among many authors of this time period. This said, the book is a must read.

- The theories of Margaret Murray (The Witch Cult In Western Europe, 1921 and The God of the Witches, 1931) -Murray hypothesized that the confessions in the witch trials of the middle ages and beyond were proof of a surviving pagan religion that worshipped the goddess Diana and her consort the Horned God. Murray's theories were dismissed by historians as being historically inaccurate; however, the public latched onto her books and Murray became quite popular.

-The White Goddess: A Historical Grammar Of Poetic Myth by Robert Graves (1948) - A ground-breaking book in which the author proposed a pan-goddess hypothesis in which all the goddesses of the ancient pagan religions were just manifestations of a single goddess Graves referred to as "The White Goddess". Such goddess was the muse and force behind true poetry. Graves himself believed that all true poetry was an invocation of this all-powerful, female deity. Like the Golden Bough, the White Goddess is a must read. Graves also invented the notion of the "Oak King" and "Holly King", which many Wiccans have borrowed and with many Wiccans falsely believing that these entities were actual beings of folklore.

- Aradia or The Gospel of the Witches by Charles Leland (1899)

- Ozark Superstitions by Vance Randolph (1947) [Republished as, Ozark Folk Magic And Folklore (1964)]

All of these influences mixed and mingled and were given shape by one Gerald Gardner, founder of Wicca, who in the late 1940s and 1950s, created the Gardnerian Wiccan Tradition.

What Wiccans Believe And Do:

1.) Wiccans believe in both a goddess and a god.

A. The Goddess:

The Goddess, or "Mother Goddess" is the primary female force of nature. She is often referred to as the Triple Goddess, for her three forms of Maiden, associated with the color white, with spring and the waxing moon, Mother, associated with the color red, with summer, fall, and the full moon, and Crone, associated with the color black, with winter and the waning moon. To most Wiccans, all goddesses of the past or present are but manifestations of the one great Goddess. The Goddess is "mother nature", "mother earth", etc. This belief partly stems from the cult of Isis, where the goddesses' followers believed that all goddesses were but manifestations of Isis. The number one influence for this belief comes from the book, The White Goddess by Robert Graves.

B. The Horned God :

The Horned God is the masculine force of nature. He is the son and consort of the Goddess. This may seem odd to outsiders, but in reality it is stating that men are born from women and grow up to become the lovers of women. The Horned God is horned to express his connection to animal life, to the hunt, and to fertility and sexuality. As the moon is the symbol for the Goddess, the sun is the symbol of the Horned God. The Horned God is also a sacrificial god in the sense that he gives his life each year, as in the reaping of grain or the vine, as the animal that is hunted for food, and of the loss of strength of the sun in late-fall and winter. The Horned God dies at the festival of Samhain (Halloween) and is reborn on Yule (Winter Solstice). As with the Goddess, most Wiccans view the male pagan gods of the past or present to be aspects of the Horned God.

2.) Wiccans believe in a variety of spirits, human spirits, fairies or nature spirits, spirits of the 4 elements (earth, air, fire and water), etc.

3.) Wiccans celebrate 8 holidays or sabbats, otherwise referred to as the Wheel of the Year:

A. Samhain (Oct. 31) - Last harvest festival of the season, festival of the dead and blessed ancestors, the Wiccan New Year, the time when the Horned God or the sun dies.

B. Yule/Midwinter (circa Dec. 21) - The Winter Solstice, the celebration of the rebirth of the Horned God or sun.

C. Imbolc (Feb. 1 or 2) - Celebration of the first stirrings of spring, associated with purification, ideal time for initiation

D. Eostre/Ostara (circa March 21) - The Spring Equinox, the Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess transforms into the Maiden.

E. Beltane (April 30/May 1) - Primary fertility festival, celebration of the return of nature, time of the sacred marriage between the Goddess and the Horned God, whose union brings forth nature.

F. Litha/Midsummer (circa June 21) - The Summer Solstice, the time of year when nature is at it's peak.

G. Lughnasadh/Lammas (circa August 1 or 2) - The first harvest festival of the year, last celebration of summer, a time of thanksgiving

H. Mabon (circa Sept. 21) - The Autumn Equinox, the second harvest festival of the year, a time of thanksgiving

4.) Wiccans perform rituals for many purposes, for worship, for magic, and for life stages such as wiccanings for new births, hand-fastings for marriages, and death or funerary rites.

5.) Wiccans use various tools, such as ceremonial blades, bells, wands, cauldrons, etc., in their worship

6.) Some Wiccans worship skyclad or in the nude. Such has no sexual over-tones but is instead done to reconnect to nature and to our true selves. When one is forced to shed clothing, the false self also falls away.

7.) Wiccans belong to 2 basic camps, Traditionalists and Solitary. Traditionalists are those members of a certified tradition who have been initiated into the tradition and who accept the teachings of such tradition. There is much controversy over what constitutes a tradition. Many so-called traditions were simply created by a individual who may never have been initiated or received any type of training. The most conservative definition of Traditionalist is those who belong to Gardnerian Tradition of Wicca or those who can trace their lineage to Gardnerian Wicca. The overwhelming majority of people who call themselves Wiccans belong to the Solitary camp. Solitary practitioners learn and study on their own, perform a self-initiation or self-blessing, and tend to be eclectic in their craft, borrowing or adding elements from other cultures or traditions to suit their need. A solitary practitioner may work with other solitary practitioners and may even call themselves a 'coven', but such still doesn't change the fact that such people are solitary practitioners.

8.) Most Wiccans practice magic. Magic is the art of manifesting reality or bending reality to one's will. Wiccan magic includes but is not limited to the use of candles, oils, incense, herbs, stones, and the making of amulets, and spoken spells to bring about the change they desire. Unlike other forms of witchcraft, Wiccans are unique as the hold beliefs concerning magic that prevents them from using magic to harm other people.

9.) Wiccans follow a special rule called the Wiccan Rede. The Rede is as follows:

"An it harm none, do what ye will"

The Wiccan Rede means that one is free to do whatever one wants to do, as long as one does not harm another.

10.) Wiccans believe in a form of karma called the Three-Fold Law. The three-fold law states that what one puts forth returns three-fold. This means that if one does good, good will come back to them times three. If one does evil, then evil will come back to them times three as well.

11.) Wiccans believe that when people die their souls go to a temporary afterlife often called "Summerland", "Avalon", "the Otherword" etc., a paradise where the soul rests in between incarnations. Wiccans believe this paradise in only temporary as Wiccans believe in Reincarnation.

12.) Wiccans carry the pentacle as a symbol of their faith. The pentacle is a five-pointed star or pentagram within an enclosed circle. The five points refer to the 4 elements of earth, air, fire and water, as well as to spirit. The circle represents eternity. The pentacle is also viewed as a protective amulet.
