Greenhaw, Chief Jeff

Jeff Greenhaw was a Falkville, AL, police chief who on October 17, 1973, responded to a report of a UFO made by an upset woman who claimed to have witnessed a spaceship land outside of town.

When Greenhaw arrived at the seen he found no sign of a landed UFO, but as he rounded a bend he came upon a being dressed in what appeared to be a metallic outfit standing in the middle of the road.

Greenhaw grabbed his Polaroid camera and took four pictures of the being but the flash of the camera seemed to frighten the entity and it made a mad dash at retreat.

According to Greenhaw the being ran faster than he could keep up with it in his patrol car. The result of the chase was the being escaping into the night and Greenhaw having only the four pictures he took as proof of his experience. Unfortunately it was an experience Greenhaw would have been better off keeping to himself.

Greenhaw was naive and assumed people would believe him being a chief and all, but such was not the case. Greenhaw became the butt of town jokes, received harassing calls, and eventually lost his job and wife. To make matters worse, his house mysteriously burned down.

Accusations were made that Greenhaw had tried to pull off a hoax or that he was the victim of a practical joke. If such accusations were true then Greenhaw paid severely for this deception. Of course it may very well be that Greenhaw told the truth and that what he encountered that October night was literally, not from this world.
